Laws For Super Pocket Bikes

Super pocket bikes seem harmless enough – but there are rules and regulations that you have to follow. Just like with any other automobile there are a number of pocket bike laws that you must follow. These might change depending on the city or state that you live in – but they are generally the same wherever you might go.

First off you must understand that these are strictly prohibited from the road. This means that you can’t suddenly try to use them to drive to work every day. This is because they do not have the right requirements required to be licenses. This includes mirrors, lights, and a whole lot more.

Another reason to stay off the roads is the size of the bike. It would be rather difficult for other cars to see you around them. It is sometimes hard enough for people in cars and trucks to notice people on the average sized motorcycles. Imagine how alarming it would be for them to run into you because you were in their blind spot?

These also have to stay off the sidewalks where people walking can get hit. Instead they are to be used in neighborhoods, race tracks, off road, or in private areas. In these areas you still have to make sure that kids are well supervised and are wearing the necessary safety gear, especially a helmet.

The type of helmet that you use is very important. It must be have a DOT or ANSI certification and meet all of the requirements of your city and state. Also you should make your child wear knee and elbow pads so they do not scratch their skin if they should fall off.

If you are caught driving in a prohibited area you could be fined as much as $400 or more in certain states. You might also have to register the bike even if you are not allowed to drive it on public roads. Contact your local DMV for more information.
