From Polini to the cheap Chinese knock-offs; we’ll cover them all, including tips and guides for taking care of your new ride. We’ll cover everything that makes these crotch rockets “super.”

I’ve always been an enthusiast of this hobby, starting way back in 2005 long before the garnered national media attention for parents letting their kids get hurt riding these things. Since then, the popularity of these little motorcycles have risen dramatically and they’re fast becoming a viable alternative to much more expensive kids dirt bikes from Honda and other full scale motorcycle manufacturers.

There are some great reasons to buy a pocket bike rather than the bigger full scale models – namely price. Also, while these things are quite fast – many going 30, 40 or even 60+ miles per hour – a typical gas super pocket bike is just as safe as their bigger brothers and often cost half as much. Add to the fact that there are so many styles to choose from and many of them look nearly identical to the scale of a $10,000 motorcycle – kids, teenagers and adults all love them.

Of course, you have to practice safe riding habits. Doing stupid things like driving them on the highway and jumping ramps etc. like you might see on YouTube is probably going to get you hurt or worse. This puts extra emphasis on parents to make sure their kids are being safe and won’t end up as another statistic that gives our hobby a bad name. I’m all for letting children ride pocket bikes, even supers but it needs to happen under strict adult supervision. Be safe and look up the most recent laws for pocket bikes that are in your area.

I guess I’ve rambled on about safety long enough, let’s get down to business and start learning about these awesome machines. Looking over in the sidebar you’ll find the articles I’ve written to help walk you through the different types of super pocket bikes along with some other posts about other related topics. We will show you the best way to buy a new or used super pocket bike. Stay safe and happy riding!
